Obituary of Jack Robert Riegel

Jack R. Riegel, 78, of Lake Hiawatha passed away peacefully Saturday, February 14, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Montville Twp and raised in Boonton, before moving to Lake Hiawatha. After graduating from Boonton High School in 1954, Jack proudly served in the US Marine Corps. Before he started his own business as Riegel Landscaping Service in 1965, he sold Kirby Vacuum cleaners and was a draftsman for Automatic Switch, in East Hanover. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities. Jack was the beloved husband, of 58 years, to Mitsue Riegel; loving father of JoAnn and her husband Joe Grasso, Julie and her husband John D'Esposito, Ronald Riegel and his wife Michelle, Lisa Colando, and Jack Riegel; cherished grandfather of seven grandsons with one on the way, and one granddaughter; and dear friend to many. He was predeceased by his dear sister Elsie Holland, brother Joseph Riegel and sister in law Margie Riegel (Banta). Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 starting at 10:00 AM at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main St. in Boonton, with a service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at Rockaway Valley Cemetery, in Boonton Twp. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's name to a charity of your choice. .
