Joseph Raymond Patamia, 93, lifelong resident of Boonton passed away on Friday night, December 20, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. .
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday December 26, 2013 at Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street in Boonton. Visiting will be prior to the services from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joseph’s name to; Disabled American Vets, 315 Hazel Street, Clifton, NJ 07015.
Joe was a decorated Word War II Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. He was honored with the Bronze Star & Purple Heart as well as the American theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. He worked as Head Custodian at Mt. Lakes Schools for 25 years before retiring at the age of 72. Joe was a Military Order of The Purple Heart Life Member and an avid Yankee fan.
He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years Julia (nee Deluca), whom he met the first week home from the war. Devoted father of loving daughter Shirley Patamia. Cherished grandfather of David DeMaio, loving brother of Thomas Patamia and his wife Ruth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.
