Bonifacio M. Canda, affectionaly known as "JR" and "Jon" , passed away on March 28th after a brief illness. He was a beloved partner, brother and friend. Born in Baguio City, Philippines in 1956, Jon came to the U.S. in 1983. He met his partner, Frank Kelly, in 1985, and they shared a wonderful life together for over 26 years. Jon is survived by two loving sisters, Adona and Raquel, of Mt. Vernon, NY. He is also survived by brothers Alan, Danny, Deiter and Sisters Josephine, Rowena, Loida and Tessie, all of the Philippines. Jon had a long and distinjuished career at Mt. Vernon Hospital in NY, first as an ICU Nurse, then as a nurse educator and finally as Director of Nursing. Before his illness he was working as an information technology analyst for Mt. Vernon and Sound Shore Hospitals in NY. Jon was a warm and very generous person who helped and mentored many relatives and friends in the U.S. and the Philippines. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The viewing will be held at Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, NJ on Sunday April 1st form 3:00- 7:00 PM, with a short service at 6:30 PM.
