Obituary of Richard Edward McCormick

Richard Edward McCormick, 87, Boonton Richard Edward McCormick, 87, of Boonton passed away on September 7, 2016, at Franciscan Oaks Health Center in Denville, NJ. Richard was born in Boonton and was a lifelong resident. Richard proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, serving for 4 years, most notably serving aboard the USS Bataan. He was a Pneumatic Control Engineer for Honeywell for 34 years. Richard was a member of Plumbers Union #24, where he achieved life member status. He was also a member of Steamfitters Union Local #475 in Warren, NJ. Richard was the Fire Chief for the Town of Boonton in 1968 and 1969. He was a life member of the Boonton Fire Exempt Association, life member of the Boonton Fire Department Relief Association, member of the Morris County Fire Chief Association, and member of the N.J. State Fire Chief Association. Richard was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Walter J. Barrett Council. Richard was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Charles J McCormick and Clarisse B. McCormick, and his brother Raymond McCormick. He is survived by his wife Margaret McCormick, sons Michael and his wife Mary Ellen McCormick and Tim McCormick and his fiancé Kerry. Richard is also survived by his sisters Janet Marhefka and Joan Skillman, granddaughter Heather Winter McCormick, grandson Connor McCormick and granddaughter Kiernan McCormick. Visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016, from 3-7 PM at Dangler, Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 W. Main Street, Boonton, NJ. 07005. Funeral Services will commence on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 8:30AM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton, NJ, followed immediately by interment at St. Mary' Cemetery in Boonton. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Richard's name to the Boonton Kiwanis, PO Box 16, Boonton, NJ.
