John was my dad. Every day with him are special memories for me. It was always very reassuring when he came to my sports games or my school concerts. Looking back, I don’t think I would have been successful without him being there. He was an amazing father. I remember when my brother and I were little kids, my dad tried to get us to shovel snow by telling us that he had to walk to school in it and help his dad shovel every day during the winter. My father was born and raised in Louisiana. He never saw snow until him and my mom were moving to New Jersey. And being a little kid, I didn’t know that it doesn’t snow in Louisiana. He also had a knack for always getting me to tell off on myself. Every time I would list something I did or didn’t do, he would say, “Nope. That’s not it.” By the time I got to the end of the list, he said, “I didn’t know about any of that stuff. Now I do.” I am going to miss him dearly. I love you Dad. And even though you never got to meet your grandson, he won’t forget you either. He knows how much you did to always help us out.
