Cousin Alfred was one of the kindest, caring, and selfless person I had the honor of knowing. I have my fondest memories of my cousin Alfred, when we worked together for many years at my father's salvage yard and gas station. I learned so much from him not only about repairing automobiles but also about life. We had many conversations about our personal lives and Alfred always offered the best advice after listening intently. I remember after we finished working we would go to the YMCA to work out and end up at George' Diner on Coney Island Avenue at which he always paid the bill.. My Big Cousin Alfred was like a big brother to me. He built a workout bench for me that would still be standing today if my wife would have let me take it to our new house when we were first married. He drove me around in his 1968 Pontiac Lemans convertible at times at excessive, terrifying speed. We encountered many harrowing experiences when driving with my Big Cousin. I specifically remember when we were driving at excessive speed and wound up facing oncoming traffic on the Prospect Expressway. Another adventure was when I was riding with him on his bicycle and he tried to make the light crossing Ocean Parkway and an oncoming car missed us by a quarter of an inch.
In my opinion, Alfred was one of the best handball players in Brooklyn. He used to play against me using his left hand, (he was a righty) and would beat me handily. At times I knew he let me purposely win because that's the kind of person he was. Alfred was not only a positive role model but also my best Friend.
Rest in peace my dear Cousin. You will never be forgotten. Love Cousin Tony

Al's memory lives on. He was a beacon of hope as he faced tough health challenges with grace and dignity. He was brilliant at work and a renaissance man at home. There was nothing that Al couldn't repair or build. Most of all, Al was a dedicated husband and father. He was a prefect role model whose traits will continue through his beloved family.

My dearest cousin Al,
Where do I start? Perhaps Sundays at Grandmas house. I can still smell the sauce on the stove, the frying of meatballs and sausage, but most of all the love and laughter of our family. My grandparents house was a three family house with most of my cousins living in the upstairs apartments. Al being one of the eldest and his sisters and brother and of course the Salafrios. The fun and the laughter you simply never forget most especially because they are not only family but dear friends and loved ones you took along with you through your life.
Al was (and still is) one of the most kind, heartwarming and loving person I have ever met and amazingly he thought of me and to call me to say hello during the COVID pandemic and I will always cherish our conversations. He was not only warm hearted and loving human being but also an extremely intelligent human being with a marvelous insight on life.
I love you dearly Al and you will be sorely missed with that beautiful smile. Until we meet again!
Love cousin Patti
