Obituary of Carmela Laudati
Carmela “Millie” Lamagna Laudati
Cherished Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, 100
Millie entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving grandchildren, on April 25, 2023. Born on December 26, 1922 in Newark, New Jersey to Spiranza and Frank Lamagna. She is reunited in heaven with her husband of 66 years, Gerald Laudati, daughters Geraldine Laudati and Rita Farino and her siblings, Emil Lamagna, Vincent Lamagna, Frank Lamagna, Jospeh Lamagna, Nicolas Lamagna , Gilda Hergert and Lucy Pollara. Together Jerry and Millie raised their children in Rutherford, New Jersey. A resident for over 60 years, Millie belonged to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. She relocated to Boonton, New Jersey to reside with her granddaughters after the passing of her children in 2009.
Loved and cared for by many over her long and rewarding life, she will be deeply missed. Millie was an amazing baker and her family looked forward to her ricotta cookies and rice pudding. She loved her sweets and loved a good celebration. She was the life of the party; staying up late eating, singing and dancing. Her smile and laughter would fill any room. Her daily singing, whether it be Happy Birthday or Che Sera, Sera with her sister Edith Piscopo and her nephew Paul Lamagna will truly be missed. She loved ceramics, sewing, traveling and of course shopping. She was fortunate to make new friends when she joined the Friendship House in her 90’s. Having lost both of her children, still managed every day to laugh and smile. She would say, “if we don’t laugh we would cry.” She taught her family about unconditional love, strength and positivity. She truly had the most sincere and generous soul. All these memories will be treasured by her grandchildren, Jason and Jen Farino, Dana Farino and Lauren Farino, her great-grandson, John Farino, her siblings, Edith Piscopo and Eugene Lamagna, her many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visiting will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home 312 West Main St. in Boonton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Millie’s memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Rutherford NJ at 10:00 AM and burial service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
