Obituary of Catherine Cikovsky
DUE TO THE EXPECTED WEATHER - THE FUNERAL MASS WILL NOW BE HELD AT 1:00PM TUESDAY FEBRUARY 28, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear Mother, Sister, Nana and Friend, Catherine (Windt) Cikovsky, has passed away on February 22, 2023, at the age of 87, while surrounded by family. Kay, as she was known to friends and family, was born on October 30th, 1935, in Morristown to parents Louis and Agnes Windt, and was the 7th of 12 siblings. She lived in Morris Plains and Denville in her youth before settling in Boonton Township to raise her family.
In 1955, Kay met her beloved Frank Cikovsky while they both worked at the A&P meat department, in Denville, NJ. Frank, the butcher, and Kay, the wrapper, began dating and soon married on November 4, 1956. They went on to live in the home that Frank built in Boonton Township with their 4 children: Catherine (Cikovsky) Scalzo of Barnegat (formally Parsippany), Frank Cikovsky of Lake Hiawatha, Gary Cikovsky of Succasunna and Teresa Cikovsky of Boonton Township. In addition to her children, Kay was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren: Jamie Napeloni, Ryan Cikovsky, Ryan Scalzo, Justin Cikovsky, Erin Silver, Frank Cikovsky, Katie Cikovsky, Jenna Scalzo, Sean Cikovsky and Dylan Cikovsky. She was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, Jack and Chase Napeloni, Harlie and Jayce Silver, and Adrianna Jo Scalzo.
Kay was predeceased by her husband, Frank, as well as her brothers, Charles Windt, Arthur Windt, Warren Windt, Edward Windt, John Windt, Michael Windt and sisters, Bernadette Shauger, Elizabeth Boyne and Patricia Rotundo. She is survived by her brother Louis Windt and sister, Mary Keba.
Kay was a devoted mother and raised her 4 children before joining Johanson Manufacturing as a part assembler. After retiring, Kay enjoyed spending most of her time being Nana with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; telling stories, singing songs and giving the best hugs. In retirement, Kay enjoyed cruising and traveling the world, bowling and bingo, amongst a variety of activities.
Kay was loved by all that knew her and she was a devoted friend to many. Her smile and her laughter will be sorely missed.
Please join us as we celebrate her life on Monday, February 27th from 4-8 at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home and Tuesday, February 28th at 10am St. Cyril & Methodius Church.
