Moments in Time by Jan Turner
Sis and I swinging under the grapevines,
Mom’s homemade jelly cools on the sill.
Songs she is singing, lyrics of sweet rhymes,
warm our young hearts… and stay with us still.
Mother’s song and teddy held tight,
“Sleep Baby Sleep” drifts into the night…
two years old and so long ago,
there in the little bungalow.
Snow’s falling lightly on Madison Street.
Now in the big house with two sisters more,
our sleds at the door, boots on our feet…
Mom’s playing piano and singing her score.
Building our snowmen in various styles,
Mom at the window, waiving with smiles.
Coming inside, wet mittens to dry,
Mom has hot cocoa and warm apple pie!
Moments in time enwrap us in memories,
playing our heartstrings, they ever entwine.
Family ties still bind us in harmonies…
moments with Mom that forever are mine.

I will always remember my nana’s laugh and great sense of humor. We would have such a great time visiting around the kitchen table. We would play cards or a game with the family and we would all be making jokes and laughing hysterically. Nana would always make us feel welcome and we would have the best time on our visits. No one could ever ask for a better grandmother and I will miss her deeply. I am glad she is with Pop Pop Mike now and at peace. Sending my love and prayers to the family. Mike

My Mother's Gifts by Margaret Smith
Love for her children, love for all life,
Loyal devotion through stress and through strife,
Hugs and encouragement, comfort and praise,
Forgiveness and goodness, trustworthy ways.
These are my Mother's precious gifts to me.
A fondness for birds and all creatures small,
Rabbits and groundhogs...skunks, too, after all,
Knowledge of nature, deep seated respect,
Keen observation on which to reflect.
These are my mother's precious gifts to me.
Stories and verses, inspired haiku,
Tempera paintings, and clever senryu,
Creations with color, meter and rhyme,
Original works well tested by time.
These are my mother's precious gifts to me.
Sense of adventure, a need to explore
All one's potential, on new wings to soar;
Hopeful beginnings to start each new day,
True pleasure in living, laughter that's gay.
These are my precious Mother's gifts to me.
Mom inspired so much in me: her love of reading, her love of nature which she observed with insightfulness, and of course her love of family. I am including two websites if you would like to read some of her work and view her watercolors. Margaret
