Anne Ricci

Obituary of Anne M Ricci

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anne P. Ricci passed away on the morning of April 11th, just shy of her 98th birthday.  A self-proclaimed tomboy, she grew up in the Bronx and Brooklyn, New York, playing stickball and roller skating.  One of five children, she grew up during the depression years with a single mom, and the toughness and kindness this instilled in her was apparent throughout her life.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Hunter College and a master’s from New York University in education.  She married Angelo Ricci in 1946 after a long distance romance with him, by letter, when he was serving as a soldier in WWII.  She was a life-long educator, teaching in the Denville and Parsippany school systems.  In 1977 she received the outstanding teacher of the year award.  She also helped to establish the Recreation Education and Management Corporation with her husband, establishing and running private schools throughout northern New Jersey. Annie, as she was called by her family, loved a good cup of coffee, an inexpensive glass of wine, fall foliage, spring flowers, reading, biscotti, classic movies, knitting, her home, and being kidded by her husband, son, son-in-law and grandsons. Above all she was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mom and grandma, and gave lovingly and selflessly in every way possible to her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her family, Lewis and Lisa her children, Maggie and Jim her daughter and son-in-law, and Nash, Campbell, Duncan and Jimmy her grandkids. A date and time for a memorial celebration will be announced by the family at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Parsippany Education Foundation, Inc. at www.pef4kids.com.
