Catherine Martha Masar, 88, of Readington

Catherine Martha Masar, 88, of Readington, passed away on October 16, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in Somerset. Born and raised in Newark, Catherine resided Denville and Montville before moving to Readington.

Catherine was employed as an event coordinator for the Recreation Department of Montville Township. She started the Ladies Auxiliary of the Taylortown Excelsior #2 Fire Department, and was an EMT on the Montville Township First Aid Squad. Catherine was an avid golfer and a member of Peace Pipe Golf Club in Denville.

Catherine is survived by her beloved daughter Sharon C. Masar-Ortepio (Peter J.) ; and her cherished grandchildren Katelyn Ortepio and Steven Ortepio. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Steven A. Masar; and her sister Ruth and brother Willard.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Dangler, Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, NJ 07005. Interment will follow immediately at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Boonton. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerlewisandcareyfuneralhome.com.
