My condolences to the DeFilippis Family. Uncle "Gene" as we called him, was very good friends with my Dad Jerry Hyde. Our families grew up together on Western Avenue in Morristown. Those childhood memories in the 60's and 70's will forever be ingrained in my mind. He was a great man, husband and father. Morals made of granite! I was so fortunate to see him when he was present for the passing of my dad back in September 2001. He looked just as I remembered him and his presence made a somber day into one of peace and comfort. I was grateful they were together one final time! May peace be with you Uncle Gene. I know you and dad have a lot to talk about.

IT IS WITH A SADDENED HEART,I READ ABOUT THE PASSING OF MY GOOD FRIEND ,''GINO''DEFILIPPIS,WHO RECENTLY PASSED ON. I HAVE KNOWN HIM FOR OVER 50 YEARS,AS A FRIEND AND CO-WORKER. WE STARTED BACK IN THE 1950'S AT THE PHONE COMPANY GARAGE,KNOWN THEN AS THE EVERGREEN AVENUE GARAGE. WE WORKED MANY ASSIGNMENTS TOGETHER,GENE WAS A MASTER CRAFTSMAN BESIDES BEING A SKILLED ,HUNTER,FISHERMAN AND CARPENTER.HE DID THE COMPLETE JOB AND NOTHING LESS.GENE WAS A GENEROUS AND CARING INDIVIDUAL.I HAD THE HONOR OF KNOWING HIS FAMILY SINCE WE WERE YOUNG MEN.GENE IS GONE TO A BETTER PLACE NOW,FREE FROM SICKNESS AND PAIN. Uncle Gene was a great man who always made me feel loved. He loved kids and was so patient & funny and I loved to hear him singing. I will miss him very much but have great memories.
