John was such a devoted member of his community. My office was across the street in Boonton and I received his American Express Card. My husband’s name also John Dorsey I also lived in Boonton. Remember going to his home to deliver the Am Express card. We all had a good laugh. He also Arranged to get me a cherished number 1 License Plate After a big fund raiser. I’m in Florida now but I still have my plate in my procession LBZ1 Oi am so proud to have known him and send my condolences to the family. Lana Dorsey

I wanted to send my condolences to his family and give tribute to Senator Dorsey. I was not on his side side politically and opposed him in several affordable housing cases. So it is not that I agreed with him. But he was an honest public servant with an unusual amount of candor, not always well advised politically, that was essential to his character. Our interactions provided great memories for me of a unique individual, and I treasure those memories. I wish his family comfort on their loss and that they take pride for his life. Dear Susan, Jennifer and Stephanie I was saddened by the obituary of John Dorsey, your Husband and Da. I have know him and you since you mover on to Decker Lane, many, many years ago. John brought fun to the neighborhood...He would crack jokes at the Bamford pool, before you pool was built. I remember John, even as a State Senator playing catch with my brother, David, in the middle of Decker Lane. (David was only 9-years'-old then. John made living on Decker Lane a lot of fun. He was outgoing--and fun to talk to. Later, after the Dorsey family moved from Decker Lane, I then had the opportunity to connect to John again. This time at the Health Club at the Sheraton. Often it would be in the whirlpool there. John never forgot that we had once been neighbors. Even in the whirlpool he would ask how "Rena," "Ralph," "David," and "Zach" were. The fact that he did not say, "How is the family," and used each name made John a caring man. John Dorsey will be missed. My heart is mourning with yours. With deepest condolences to John's family, colleagues, members of his Law Firm and those he mentored and alike; with a combination of sadness and gratitude; I say goodbye. John taught me more about the law than could ever be described and I consider it a privilege to have worked with and known him for many years.
