Obituary of DeGray Marion
DeGray Marion, 88, of Rockaway
DeGray Marion, 88, of Rockaway, passed away on June 13, 2018 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. DeGray was born and raised in Bloomingdale, where he resided with his family for many years before settling in Rockaway.
DeGray was the proprietor of Gilmar Laminating in Bloomingdale. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. As a Gunner with the 90th BM Squadron, Degray flew 57 combat missions over Korea. This remarkable achievement was certified by Major David L. Cater USAF. Our country owes a tremendous debt of gratitude for DeGray’s service. DeGray was a member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department, where he was an exempt member. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Butler and was a member of the Butler Knights of Columbus. He later became a parishioner of St. Clement’s Church in Dover.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 4-8 PM , at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street Boonton, NJ 07005. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton, NJ. Interment will follow immediately at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Boonton. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in DeGray’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Degray is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Gilda (nee Bonanni); his loving children Jeffrey Marion and Georgann Magaw and her fiancée Ed Cusack, as well as his son-in-law Russell Magaw; his cherished grandchildren Rachel and Deann; many nieces, nephews and cousins. DeGray was predeceased by his 8 siblings.
